STBD Uses a MAC, After All...

I had the pleasure of meeting with Dave Sevick and his MAC users' group in Cranberry today, several miles north of Pittsburgh. I'd contacted Dave about the upcoming PodCamp Pittsburgh in November and he invited me to discuss the event with his group members, as well as explaining STBD to them.

The audience was great -- mostly folks from 30-60 with lots of (good) questions. When people who don't necessarily realize that web media is out there for the taking get turned on to the concept, it's great to see their reactions. In addition to STBD, I showed them the work of Steve Garfield and Alive in Baghdad, and I could feel the light bulbs turning on when people realized exactly what was possible from the world of user-generated content.

Hopefully Dave and his fellow MAC users make the trip into town for PodCamp in November. In the meantime, I'll be visiting the MAC users' group in Monroeville tomorrow (Thursday) night, hopefully for more of the same positive Q & A.

And to think, I just switched to a MAC full-time this season... I wonder what the PC users' groups are up to...

Side note: Chris Brogan mentioned an acquaintance of his, Jon Sawnson, a pastor who's doing some work for the rebuilding efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Dave Sevick's users' group rebuilt 100 computers to send down to the Katrina site. Perhaps we have some synergy?
